two favorites

hello, lovelies :) How are you all, on this beautiful friday morning?? :)

I'm sitting here, with a slight headache, trying to talk to God. But for some reason, I'm having a hard time keeping my mind on track. Has that ever happened to you??

Well, when that happens to me, I like to do two things:
I read two of my favorite Psalms.
One is Psalm 51, and the other is Psalm 46.

Whenever I'm having trouble focusing on God or when I feel distant from him, it's good for me to read these because Psalm 51 is like a "forgive me" Psalm, and Psalm 46 is a "God is huge" Psalm.

 Let me explain:
Whenever I feel distant, it's probably because I've got sin building up in me that I haven't shared with God. Sin separates me from God, and if I'm hiding it, or simply not taking it to him, it continues to separate us. What a horrible thing!
Or, whenever I feel distant, it could be that I've forgotten how big God is. Sometimes, for me, I have to be brought back and told that God is bigger than anything I can imagine and he has the whole world in his hand. He is I AM. And that is enough.
wow.

I'm not saying these are two "magical exercises" to get you closer to God. I'm not saying that at all.

I'm saying that I pray Psalm 51 to God. and ask him to forgive me of my sins, because I am a sinner.
I read Psalm 46 and I stand in awe of the power of God. Because I am a helpless human being.

My God is greater, my God is stronger, my God is higher than any other. My God is healer, and awesome in power; He's my God.

I hope none of you are feeling distant today, but if so, check yourselves. Is there sin building and brewing inside?? Have you forgotten how big he is and gotten the notion that you can do it all?? Let his Word cleanse you; let the Holy Spirit flow into your heart. That's what I've prayed for today.
:)

I hope you all have a fantastic Friday!
I love you all!

p.s.-- school's almost out! :)

This is such a wonderful reminder! Thank you so much for sharing. It really is great to sit back and remember how amazing our God is. He is so gracious and loving and faithful, even when we are so sinful, selfish, and unfaithful. I hope your Friday was amazing too!
