bookies

hello, loves! how are you all??

i'm doing well. today i had two softball games....we lost both.
on to a new subject! ;)

i'm reading The Scewtape Letters right now by C. S. Lewis. It's so good!
it's pretty much a conversation between two demons, an older one (Scewtape) and his nephew (Wormwood). It's written to where we only see the uncle's side of the conversation to his nephew. In Scewtape's letters to Wormwood, he instructs him on how to lead the "patient", who is the Christian, farther and very subtly away from the "Enemy", who is God.
If any of you have read Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness, you'll understand when I say that The Scewtape Letters gives very good insight into the spiritual realm.

It's easy to forget that there is another world of "beings" surrounding us right now- some working for God, some working for Satan. And make no mistake about it, the ones working for Satan hate you. They try everything to get inside your head, manipulate your feelings, and change the way you view Truth. It can be scary to think about, yes, but if we ignore it we are worse than ignorant- we're being stupid.
To have knowledge of the real Enemy's plans and strategies is of great worth to us as humans. We can use it fight against them, with the power of Christ. We can also use it to help us identify with things in our own lives, hearts, and minds that are of him and not God. We can keep them in mind and stand guard for when the first signs of Satan trying to trick us present themselves.

Here's a quote I liked from the book:
"Murder is no better than cards if cards can do the trick. Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one- the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turns, without milestones, without signposts."

I just thought that was pretty "wow", ya know?
anywho, there's my thought for the night. :)
